OPTiM and KDDI have Co-developed an iOS Solution
that Supports Apple’s Device Enrollment Program

Benefits include automatic forced MDM registration and superior supervision!

Tokyo (April 22, 2015) – OPTiM (TSE Mothers: 3694), a leading provider of business-related applications for smart devices, proudly announces the completion of a co-development project with KDDI Corporation※1.  The project entails supporting Apple’s Device Enrollment Program (DEP) in KDDI’s Smart Mobile Safety Manager, and provision of the service, in cooperation with KDDI’s Device Enrollment Program Registration Service, begins today.  The service has several advantages, including delivery of automatic forced MDM registration and a superior supervision level to iOS devices※2 provided by KDDI for enterprises and educational institutions; reduction of an administrator’s MDM※3 registration burden; and provision of more robust security features than ever before.

■About KDDI’s Smart Mobile Safety Manager

■The merits of DEP utilization
In cases of mass iOS device deployment, customers utilizing MDM services which emphasize security countermeasures were struggling with deployment costs resulting from the many necessary settings processes for each iOS device.  But with Apple’s DEP, customers can automatically register their iOS device prior to joining an MDM service, without any direct device operation or preparation.  In addition, the administrator’s pre-setting to skip some client’s operations will also make the entire setup and deployment process simpler and cheaper.

Also, the “Supervised Mode” setting provides advanced device management features which previously needed to be set by USB connection via Apple Configurator※4.  Supervised Mode is now allowed via wireless network, and the enforcement of MDM registration and the prohibition of MDM service deletion can eliminate MDM service management loopholes and further optimize device management.

◆ Utilization of MDM service with Supervised Mode setting via Apple Configurator
